Sonia Samuels and Marcos Angel Valero Palacios ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this weekend (27th April).

Our weekly parkrun top ten is now sponsored by Vertebrate Publishing (my publisher) and here’s a link to buy my book on their website. They actually have a bunch of great books to choose from, especially the mountaineering ones, so don’t feel like you have to buy 1001 Running Tips.

This week’s round-up might be a bit brief as I’ve run 100k today and I’m off to support some athletes of mine in the 24hr race that’s on as well. Plus my legs hurt.

British international Sonia Samuels was the fastest woman today, with a strong 16:44 at Watermead Country Park. The 2:28:04 marathoner (PB from 2015) has been back running 2:28:15 and 2:28:07 in the last couple of years, which is awesome to see.

Spaniard Marcos Angel Valero Palacios was the fastest male runner with a 15:08 at York parkrun and it was a park PB by nine seconds and it’s actually only one second slower than his 5k road PB from 2021.

The best of the rest

Scot Morag Millar was only three seconds slower than Samuels with 16:47 at Strathclyde parkrun and Dearbhla Cox ran 17:37 for third at Citypark parkrun in Craigavon, Northern Ireland. That’s a rolling route that one!

Josh Carr ran 15:16 at Southsea parkrun to grab second male runner and Robert Joseph 15:22 at the Storey’s Field event was good enough for third.

The fastest course?

I think Southsea is the only event that features twice this week, so it’s a 2-1 victory over everyone else.
