Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson showed once again, why she is one of the world’s best athletes, running 10.94 for 100m at the London Anniversary Games – wearing trainers!

For added grip, athletes usually wear spikes when racing on the track, but to protect an injury, Jamaican Thompson choose to wear fairly standard trainers.

The world track star said: “The spikes I have I’m not confident with and hurt my Achilles so I’m running in flats.”

Thompson looked impressive in the win, further demonstrating why she’s the strong favourite for this summer’s World Championships in London.

Before the event in London, Thompson didn’t appear phased by her choice in footwear saying “my speed is my greatest asset”.
