14 years ago today Paula Radcliffe broke the world record in the women’s marathon.
Her 2:15:25 record, set during the 2003 London Marathon still stands today, and doesn’t look like it will be beat anytime soon.
Radcliffe ran the first half in 68:02, and amazingly ran a negative split of 67:23 in the second half of the race.
She led the marathon every step of the way and by the finish was almost a mile clear of former world record-holder Catherine Ndereba of Kenya.
Radcliffe’s performance is hailed as one of the greatest athletics world records of all time.
Relive the moment.
