Irish star Fionnuala McCormack will aim for another national 10k road title when she lines up in the Great Ireland Run this Sunday.

Sunday’s race will be the 17th edition of the ever popular Great Ireland Run, which sees thousands of runners heading to Phoenix Park in Dublin.

In the last number of years the Irish national 10k has been included in the mass participation event.

In addition to the national 10k title, Athletics Ireland will line up a senior men’s and women’s teams against strong English teams, which will include former Great Ireland Run winner Gemma Steel.

Lining up for the Irish Women’s team are Fionnuala McCormack, Newcastle & District AC’s Kerry O’Flaherty, and Laura O’Shaughnessy. The Elite Women & AAI Women’s National 10k Championships will start at 11:00am.

The Irish men’s team for the Great Ireland Run is Mark Christie, Raheny Shamrock’s pair Kevin Dooney and Mick Clohisey and Liam Brady. The Elite Men & AAI Men’s National 10k Championships will start at 11:20am.
