UK Athletics has today announced the athletes that will represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at next month’s World Championships taking place in Budapest.

A total of 51 athletes have been announced to date, with the team to be finalised next week following acceptance of World Rankings invitations from World Athletics for a number of athletes, likely to exclusively be in field events.

The team includes strong representation in the middle distance events, with a full contingent in the 800m and 1500m. They include medallists at last year’s edition Keely Hodgkinson and Laura Muir. Also in the team are Issy Boffey and Megan Keith, who set PBs last weekend in the 800m and 5000m respectively to run inside the qualification standard.

Natasha Cockram is the sole marathon entrant this year, with many others focusing on autumn marathons ahead of next year’s Olympics.
