Barclay Izzard and Chloe Sharp are your fastest athletes at UK parkruns this weekend (October 5th).

Long Eaton parkrun was again the place to be for quick times this week and it was triathlete Barclay Izzard who topped this week’s list running 14:48. Having finished 5th at the Tiszaujvaros ITU Triathlon World Cup in July Izzard had a nasty fall in August breaking a collarbone ending his season. Currently ranked 71st on the ITU world rankings Blizzard clocked 14:14 at Armagh 5km in February. It’s great to see his rehab going well, and that he is back running fast.

Chloe Sharp of Central Park Athletics Club ran 17:13 to finish as this week’s fastest female runner. The under 20 middle distance specialist sneaked a parkrun PB by one second after a season that saw her clock 9:36.84 to finish 10th at the 3000m at the Loughbrough International as well as claiming the Kent 1500m title in May.

u/20 Intercounties XC champion Matt Willis was this week’s second fastest male athlete, running 14:53 also at Long Eaton smashing his previous parkrun best of 15:25. The England international also finished 10th in the Loughborough international 3000m running 8:21.80. Willis is also a triathlete finish 24th at Tiszaujvaros ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup in July.

The familiar name of Mhairi MacLennan ran 17:14 to finish 19 seconds outside the course record at Preston parkrun and this week’s second fastest woman. The GB international has had a strong year with at fantastic PB of 15:51.78 at the BMC in May and 32:58.42 at the Night of the 10000m PBs.

Horsham’s Max Dumbrell had an excellent run top claim his parkrun PB at Worthing parkrun. Coached by Brighton supremo Allison Benton Dumbrell 2:31 to finish 14th at the Brighton Marathon in April. England athlete Danielle Hodgkinson of Wallsend was the 3rd fastest female with 17:17 to break the course record at Blyth Links. The versatile athlete has had an excellent 2019 with PBs at 1500m, 3000m, 5km and representing England at the Parelloop 10km and winning the Titanic Quarter 10km in 33:41.
