Sinead Bent and William Richardson ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (22nd February).

Whilst many athletes were taking part in national championships over the mud and indoors parkrun still saw athletes running fast to kickstart their weekend.

Salford Harrier Sinead Bent destroyed her previous parkrun best to run 16:58 at Alexandra park in Moss Side and finish as the fastest woman this weekend. A silver medallist over 3000m at the recent Northern Indoor Champs Bent also claimed a huge PB of 9:24 to finish 12th at Armagh 3km.

With a 5000m best of 14:10.56 u/23 athlete Will Richardson is a man to watch over the next couple of years and he finished as this week’s fastest man at parkrun running 15:20 at Cannon Hill. The Birchfield Harrier had some fine performances at Midlands and National Road Relays in 2019 and ran 29:58 at Leeds Abbey Dash (very nearly) 10km at the end the year.

Norwegian athlete Ine Bakken has been busy racing indoors in recent weeks including running 9:54.30 last weekend. Bakken clocked a big PB in 2019 at the Hytteplanmila 10km where she ran 34:59 to finish 11th in a high quality field. She was joined Dulwich by fellow Norwegian Johannes Teigland whose time of 15:22 was enough to finish as this week’s 2nd fastest male runner. Teigland, who runs with Kings College University, also clocked a PB at Hytteplanmila 10km in 2019 running 31:29. Strava stalking tells us both athletes were not satisfied with just the hard 5km, going on to run several blocks of threshold after.

It was another week featuring Daisy Rawlings in the top 10, this week at Burgess Park where she ran 17:29 at little down on her recent best of 16:54 at over the fast course at Dulwich.

Alexandra park was the place to be for swift times this week with Joseph Monk joining Sinead Bent in our roundup as the third fastest man with 15:24. The 8:35.30 3000m man has been in good recent form running a PB of 14:39 at Armagh 5km and winning Garstang 10K and St Annes 10 mile race all since the turn of the year.
