After a PB at the Vitality London 10,000, a 5k best for Rachel Robinson means she’s joint top of the parkrun times for the weekend. Here are the quickest runners this week (June 9).

At Hull parkrun Rachel Robinson ran 17:08 to better her previous parkrun best of 18:00 and her overall 5k PB of 17:34 from 2014. This is on the back of an 80:29 half marathon in May, so it’s exciting to see what else is in store for 2018 for the Vegan Runner.

Also on 17:08 at Hanley parkrun was Kate Holt of City of Stoke AC. Holt recently ran a 5k PB of 16:12 at the fast Mid Cheshire 5k and ran well the weekend before this with a solid 1500m (4:36) and 3000m (9:26) in Worcester.

It must be PB season as Jo Williams, our third fastest in 17:09, also ran a personal best of 16:55 for 5k this May at the Self Transcendence 5k in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Canon Hill parkrun, Birmingham, saw a close finish between club mates Chloe Richardson and Becky Straw. The Birchfield Harriers ran 17:16 and 17:20 respectively.

Tom Merson of Exmouth Harriers ACC is the fastest male runner with a 15:03 at Exmouth parkrun. Merson recently ran a 14:31 PB at Mid Cheshire 5k in April and a 15:10 just last Tuesday (5 June) at the Run Exe Summer Series 5k.

Iain Kimpton, of the lesser known club “Team Kimpton”, ran 15:14 at Great Denham parkrun. It could be Ian Kimpton of Luton AC, who recently ran 30:34 for 11th in the C race at Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PBs. The 2:15 marathoner is a prolific parkrunner.

William Strangeway, who was 2nd at the Woodall Spa 10k in a 31:32 PB last weekend, ran 15:38 for the 7th quickest run. The Lincoln Wellington man looks in shape to go under his 15:15 5k PB this summer.

Eastville parkrun saw another Vegan Runner post a quick time with 15:39 for Jonathan Thewlis. It was good enough for 8th quickest of the weekend. The dietary habits of the other 18 runners in the top twenty are unknown.
