Irish legend Catherina McKiernan takes the women’s parkrun honours as Mark Kirwan tops the men’s list. Here are the fastest times at Irish parkruns on Saturday (August 4).
Catherina McKiernan ran the quickest women’s time at parkruns across the island of Ireland this weekend with a 17:17 outing at the Malahide event in Dublin.
It’s not the first time this year Ireland’s marathon record holder and multiple time world cross country medalist has claimed the number one spot, and that’s now 19 visits to the Saturday morning 5k for McKiernan.
Mark Kirwan ran a parkrun best of 15:00 at the St Anne’s event to record the fastest men’s time in Ireland. It was parkrun number six for the Raheny Shamrock athlete who clocked a 10,000m PB of 30:17.80 at the recent Irish track and field championships.
Wexford’s Gorey parkrun saw the second quickest women’s time on Saturday with an 18:29 run from Sinead Lambe. In June, the Donore Harriers athlete ran 18:24 to finish third at the Braveheart Trail 5km in Trim.
Barry Sheil took the men’s number two spot with a 16:19 outing at the Longford parkrun. It was a new best for the Longford AC athlete on his 31st parkrun visit.
Ther was one unknown runner who missed out the men’s list after running 16:47 at the Longford parkrun.
St Anne’s in Dublin was the most represented parkrun with four runners in the top 10, while Raheny Shamrock was a club out in force with three runners among this week’s rankings.
