Youngster Conall McClean takes the men’s parkrun honours as Deirdre Byrne tops the women’s list. Here are the fastest times at Irish parkruns on Saturday (August 18).

For the second time this year under-17 athlete Conall McClean ran the fastest men’s time at parkruns across the island of Ireland. The St Malachy’s runner recorded a quick 16:25 on his 119th visit to the Waterworks parkrun in Belfast.

Earlier this month the Irish schools and mountain running international finished second at the GymCo Feile 10km in Belfast in 33:09.

Deirdre Byrne ran 17:27 at the St Anne’s event in Dublin to claim the women’s top spot this weekend. The Sli Cualann athlete and former Irish international was taking part in her 32nd parkrun.

Ballymena Runners’ James Hamilton made a first appearance at the Orangefield parkrun and claimed the men’s number two spot with a 16:39 performance.

The British international T20 middle-distance runner has been a regualr among the top 10 in recent weeks and was taking part in his 66th Saturday morning 5k.

Mari Troeng ran 18:59 at the Castlewellan event to record the second fastest women’s time across the island of Ireland. It was a new parkrun best for the Newcastle & District athlete.

Belfast Victoria was the most represented parkrun in the top 10 with three runners, while St Malachy’s and Raheny Shamrock were the highest performing club with two runners each among the mix.
