Who doesn’t love a fast 5k on a Saturday morning? Here are the top 10 men and women from Saturday’s (February 4) UK parkruns.

Strathclyde parkrun in Glasgow recorded the fastest time in the UK once again, with Alastair Hay posting a super quick 15:05 on Saturday. The Central AC runner’s time is six seconds quicker than last week’s 15:11 by triathlete Fergus Roberts.

Hay, who has a 5k road best of 14:46, was running in Strathclyde for the first time and improves on his parkrun PB by nine seconds.

The Scottish parkrun came in at number two also with clubmate Aidan Thompson posting 15:12. The 22-year-old has made a good start to 2018 having finished 11th at the Antrim International Cross Country in January.

There were two unknown runners who could have made it into the men’s top 10 if they had brought their barcode – a 15:16 at Riverside parkrun in Chester-le-Street and Strathclyde parkrun with a time of 15:30.

Emma Bailey finished top of the female parkrunners at the Wimpole Estate parkrun in Cambridgeshire with 17:17. However, with a 5K road PB of 20:06 the Canicross Cambridgeshire runner’s time was a massive PB – was there any assistance from a canine friend? Let us know Emma?

Birchfield Harrier Chloe Richardson was next with 17:44 at the Cannon Hill, Birmingham parkrun. The 24-year-old made news last year when she and brother Will both won Birmingham Half Marathon titles. Richardson is a parkrun regular and has a 17:09 best.
