Lizzie Lee runs the fastest ever women’s time at Irish parkruns as Chris Madden tops the men’s rankings this week.
Irish marathon champion Lizzie Lee ran 16:48 at the Westport parkrun to record the fastest women’s time across Ireland on Saturday (March 9).
Lee’s time was not only the quickest of the weekend, but it was also the fastest ever time by a female runner at Irish parkruns.
The Leevale runner, who has a 5000m PB of 16:54.76 from 2010, was running at parkrun for the eighth time and took 10 seconds off her previous best.
This was SO much fun; my first national record 😊. I love park run especially when I’m away for the weekend and need a speedwork session! Followed it up with a 10 year old niece’s birthday party 🎈 #loveparkrun #westportlees https://t.co/UnGH46CXAx
