Jess Learmonth and Cameron Ross Boyek ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (23rd October).

Triathlete Jess Learmonth, part of the team that won mixed relay Gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics this summer, was fastest female at parkrun this weekend. The only female athlete to break 17 minutes this week the multi-sport star ran 16:55 at Rothwell parkrun.

Cameron Ross Boyek clocked 14:22 at Albert parkrun in Middlesbrough (which I still struggle spell correctly each time) and it is a new parkrun best for the 14:09 5k runner. It’s been a quiet couple of years for the Central and Morpeth runner, but a good showing at the ERRA Men’s National 6-Stage Relays earlier this month and now a decent parkrun hopefully means a good finish to 2021 is on the cards.

Aberdare parkrun was the location for second fastest female athlete on Saturday with Olivia Tsim going the same speed as last week, but jumping up the rankings. Consistency pays off if you want to get on the podium with us. It’s fresh off a new 10k PB in September, with 35:20 for second at Admiral Swansea Bay 10K.

Joint second with an Olympian

The second spot in the men’s rankings this week was a joint affair. A virtual crossing of the line together for Simon Crawford and Jake Wightman, with 15:02 for both at Long Eaton and Littlehampton respectively.

City of Norwich’s Iona Lake, somewhat of a specialist when it comes to the cross country, was third fastest lady. 17:30 at The Old Showfield shows that the Norfolk distance runner is gearing up for another excellent season on the muddy stuff.

The fastest parkrun of the week

Both Heslington and Worthing parkruns feature twice this week, with Heslington boasting fifth and seventh female and Worthing fourth and joint fifth males. With that said, it’s a narrow photo finish at the line for Worthing this week.
