Youngster Conall McClean takes the men’s parkrun honours as Maria McCarthy tops the women’s list. Here are the fastest times at Irish parkruns on Saturday (July 28).

Under-17 athlete Conall McClean ran the fastest time at parkruns across the island of Ireland this weekend with a 16:27 run at the Waterworks in Belfast.

The St. Malachy’s runner was taking part in his 116th parkrun and this year he has represented Ireland at the World Schools Cross Country Championships and the U20 European Mountain Running Championships.

There was one unknown runner ahead of the youngster in Belfast who ran a very quick 15:24, however without a barcode he doesn’t officially make this week’s top 10.

Maria McCarthy was the quickest woman on Saturday running 18:44 at the Killarney parkrun. It was parkrun number seven for the Farranfore Mainevalley athlete who equalled her previous best time.

At the Musa Cookstown parkrun, Vincent McAlister was the first runner across the line in a time of 16:33 to record the second fastest men’s time this week. The Acorns AC athlete was running in his 39th parkrun and earlier this year finished fifth at the Carmen 10K.

Taking part in her 57th parkrun Jodi Smith ran 18:50 to claim the women’s number two spot. The North Down runner has 18:02 PB over 5k on the road.

parkruns in Belfast saw the highest amount runners represented in the top 10, with the two runners each at the Ormeau and Waterworks events.
