Louis McCarthy takes the men’s honours as Kerry Bamber tops the women’s parkrun rankings.

Louis McCarthy ran 16:35 at the Marlay parkrun to record the fastest men’s time across Ireland on Saturday (March 16).

The Rathfarnham athlete, who has a 5k road best of 15:29, was running at parkrun for the 12th time.

Kerry Bamber was the quickest woman across Ireland on Saturday after running 18:29 at the Belfast Victoria event.

It was the Ballymena Runners athlete’s 18th parkrun and comes a month after a 10th place finish at the Northern Ireland and Ulster Cross Country Championships.

The second fastest men’s time this weekend was run by Scott Rankin at the Portrush parkrun.

Foyle Valley’s Rankin posted a time of 16:41 on the challenging East Strand Beach course.

Sinead Lambe took the women’s number two spot after clocking 18:38 at the Malahide parkrun.

The Donore Harriers’ runner, who earlier this year won the BHAA Cross Country at Cherryfield Park, Dublin, was running at parkrun for the 10th time.

Belfast Victoria and Marlay parkruns were the most represented events among the top 10 with three runners each.
