Lizzie Lee runs the fastest ever women’s time at Irish parkruns as Chris Madden tops the men’s rankings this week.

Irish marathon champion Lizzie Lee ran 16:48 at the Westport parkrun to record the fastest women’s time across Ireland on Saturday (March 9).

Lee’s time was not only the quickest of the weekend, but it was also the fastest ever time by a female runner at Irish parkruns.

The Leevale runner, who has a 5000m PB of 16:54.76 from 2010, was running at parkrun for the eighth time and took 10 seconds off her previous best.

Chris Madden ran the quickest men’s time this week after a parkrun best run of 15:31 at the Belfast Victoria event.

The City of Lisburn runner, who recently ran 14:52 at the Armagh 5k, was running at parkrun for the 14th time.

Belfast Victoria also saw the second fastest men’s time across Ireland on Saturday after a 15:40 run from Gareth Hill.

It was a new best for the Ballymena & Antrim runner on his eighth visit to parkrun.

Gemma McDonald was the second quickest woman on Saturday after a 18:37 run at the Antrim parkrun.

It was a new best for the Ballycastle Runners athlete on her 49th visit to parkrun.

Belfast Victoria was the most represented parkrun across the top 10 with four runners.
